The APT700 band plan,
which was developed by the Asia Pacific Telecommunity and produced in
2010, is the most efficient arrangement of the 700 MHz band for mobile
communications services, and arose as a Digital Dividend following the
migration by TV broadcasters from analogue to digital transmissions. The
FDD configuration has to date attracted total support from industry and
regulators in markets addressing approaching 4 billion people.
Adoption of the APT700 MHz band plan by a growing number of
countries across the APAC and Latin America regions, boosted by policy
makers in Europe throughout ITU Region 1 aligning with the lower
duplexer frequencies, confirms the strong momentum and represents a
major opportunity for near-global spectrum harmonization for LTE
systems, paving the way for ensuring the greatest economies of scale for
devices, the capacity for mobile broadband, and for roaming.
